The gospel of God or Jesus Christ, as referred to in the Book of Romans chapter 1 and verses 1 and 16, refers to the message of Jesus Christ’s love, selflessness, sacrifice and obedience.

This gospel of Jesus Christ includes his birth, his work on Earth, the prophecies about him, the false accusations made against him, his crucifixion on the cross, his death, his burial and his resurrection.

However, it doesn’t stop there. It includes the work He still does in all of our lives, including his prayers for us (as in Romans 8 v 34), him being the way, the truth and the life, and the only way to God the Father (as in John 14 v 6).

Essentially, the gospel is alive and continuing today in the lives of all those who are saved, born-again and practicing Christians. It is also ready to work in those who are not saved and who need only come to Jesus Christ the Savior ready to surrender their independence from Him.

Romans 1 v 16 says the gospel of Jesus Christ is the power of God geared towards salvation for all who would believe in Him. Furthermore, through the gospel of Jesus Christ, we are taken on a journey down the paths of God’s righteousness, and at the same time as we progress on this journey, our faith undergoes continued increase.

Crucially, as we continue on the aforementioned journey, something really special happens in the background of all this: this gospel of Jesus Christ, filled with the power of God, works to separate us more and more from the world and more and more towards God (as in Romans 1 v 1). For those who want this, all they then have to do is follow where this gospel of Jesus Christ leads.
