The hardest part of our Christian journey and the part we should all struggle with the most is that first initial yes.

I take the point that everyone is different. I also take the point that our common differences include differences in understanding, differences in processing information, differences in what we know and how we apply what we know and subtle differences in how we experience God. I take all these points and I respect the right we all have to alternative views.

Importantly though, at the heart of Christianity and our fellowship with God, is submission to God and humility before Him. The book of James chapter four in verses seven and ten really makes this clear. The prayer of salvation, which must be prayed and observed by all Christians in whichever language or format they are able to, has humility and surrender to God at its heart. (Our Salvation Prayer is free to use.) In fact, the Christian deal only works out if God is Lord and Savior of our lives and if we accept this wholeheartedly.

So with this in mind, as Christians, we must all reach a point in our lives where we have given up control to God despite or without the desire to turn back to our sinful ways. If your initial yes really was a yes, then all the yesses thereafter – if you think about it – are meant to be easier. After all, you have already surrendered.

Where it may seem like the hardest part of being a Christian is continuing to say “Yes, Lord” to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ on a day in day out basis, we will need to ask ourselves this important question: “Am I truly surrendered to Jesus?”

Be blessed.
