One of the most rewarding parts of Christianity is being in your place of quiet meditation with Holy Spirit in the designated closet space of your heart and having a one to one like only He can have with you.

Meditation on God’s word will never please your body. It is not about brain knowledge or muscle memory. It is purely heart knowledge. The place of meditation is the workshop of God’s Holy Spirit. From this place of meditation, we observe and then do.

To observe to do – or ‘observe and do’, as I’ve called it – as in Joshua 1:8 is a form of worship. It’s saying: “I see the Son of God and I’m willing to be just like him and I will take action as led by Holy Spirit to be just like Him.” Now that is reverence and respect, which is also worship! In John 4:23-24, Jesus talks about how true worshippers must worship in Spirit (from the heart and our spirit) and in truth (according to the revealed knowledge of God – which comes from Holy Spirit.) So, true meditation is Spirit to spirit. Holy Spirit to your spirit. Holy Spirit uses it to take away control from your fleshly desires and give strength to your spirit. You are a spirit being, with a soul, living in a body. So, put very simply, Holy Spirit empowers your spirit to choose righteousness and override your soul and body’s desire for sin.

So next time when you meditate, don’t just sit down, read your Bible and then close your eyes. Instead, offer sincere praise and worship, give thanks, pray, boast about God’s love and goodness. Holy Spirit loves all that. You cannot observe and do without meditation and you cannot meditate without Holy Spirit. So, you cannot get God’s promises without Holy Spirit.
