To observe and do is the key to God’s promises. Joshua 1:8 says it is the key to the prosperity of the soul and good success in life.
We have seen that the more control we give the Holy Spirit, the closer He gets us to where God wants us to be because He knows God’s mind, his plans, his desires and his purposes. We also know that the first step to giving him control is salvation.
We know what God’s desires are. Some are written in the Bible and some are revealed personally to us by Holy Spirit. One example of a Bible desire of God is 3 John 1:2: “Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, as it goes well with your soul.” Like in Joshua 1:8, it shows God is interested in your prosperity, but particularly that of your soul. Put another way, salvation is God’s number one plan for us. So any of His promises must FIRST affect your soul positively before they achieve anything else. This may make you sad because you may have other priorities; but because He is God, his plans for you cannot include any sorrow. There are no dark nights of the soul with God. “….As it goes well with your soul” basically means your spiritual health is the determining factor for your physical, financial and social health etc. God measures his other blessings to you based on your spiritual health. So, the more you ‘observe and do’, the more of the promises you get. The more like Jesus you become, the more you become blessed like He is. BUT remember, it is spiritual health first: the kingdom of God first, then all other things.

God might also have made some personal promises to you outside of what is in the Bible. That’s brilliant. I’m pleased for you. That promise more than likely involves obedience in something else. The Holy Spirit can help you to ‘observe and do’ (obey) if you let Him. He loves to help. In fact, He is at His strongest when we are at our weakest. Give Holy Spirit control today.
In your own words – something simple – ask for Him sincerely.
Be blessed.
