For some the Bible is simply just a bunch of pages bound together that is read from on Sundays by those, such as priests and pastors, with a level of wisdom we cannot ever achieve. ‘It’s just words’ some might say. Well, regardless, God’s words are the medium He uses to direct us to his heart first, in order to lead us to His blessings afterwards. God first then His blessings afterwards.
But even more than just a source of blessings, God’s words are God Himself. Read as a novel, the contents of the Bible will not jump out at you. But read with the head, heart, eyes, ears and mouth AND meditated on with the help of Holy Spirit, it jumps out and touches your heart. In John 6:63, Jesus Himself clearly describes God’s words as Spirit and life. Which is to mean that God’s words are God Himself and capable of breathing back life to all the dead situations in our lives, if we let it in.
There is so much out there in the world trying to take away God’s word from you: relationships, friendships, distractions and life events but as a serious person with serious life goals you have to fully grasp that God’s word is the source of your eternal blessing. Protect it. Don’t let anyone or anything take it away from you. God’s word may come to you in written form in the Bible or as a revealed word spoken to you by Holy Spirit – either way, both forms always agree with each other.
Meditation, observation and doing of God’s Word are the keys to prosperity and success. This is what God says in Joshua 1 vs 8. Meditation on God’s word requires the Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit helps us to observe (give significance to what we read) and to do like what we have read. And He comes into our lives only through salvation. I sincerely hope and pray that God will touch and renew our hearts as we begin to meditate on His Word.
