God has so much planned for His children but one of the things that can get in the way of God’s plan is: I feel like sometimes we underestimate how thoughtful, intentional and particular God is. I’ve been there. And I feel one of the reasons we do this is because it is genuinely hard to relate with someone you do not see and who you rarely hear from or have never heard.
So one day as I was meditating on the word, along comes Joshua 1:8 and a question that came to my mind was why did God, our creator, knowing how we tend to underestimate Him, inspire Joshua 1:8?

Well, one answer is that God does not change. Our doubts do not change what God requires. He does not have two different rules for any two different individuals and will not. He requires observe and do – TWO separate things and He wants both. He wants us to observe which is to make note of something and to give it significance (e.g. that He will not lead us into evil or temptation) AND to do which is to take action based on that thing (e.g. we fully give our hearts to Him in faith.) Another answer is that He is looking out for us by telling us what works and what will not work.
Some things that can get in the way of your observing and doing are questions like “Is God even real?” or “Is there a point to all this?” New believers are undoubtedly going to be more prone to these doubts than other believers but any Christian worth his or her salt must settle the “Is God real?” question in their heart and mind, once and for all. Christians cannot afford the time that will be lost oscillating between yesses and nos. The key to God’s plans for us is that we observe and we do. The first step in observing and doing is salvation. Once we are saved and as soon as we start observing Him through His Word, the purpose of our observation and our doing will start to become clear.
