A great benefit of having an understanding of God and His love is that it increases our faith in Him. Two examples of faith being increased or requiring increase as a result of an improved understanding of God are found in Luke 17 vs 1 – 5 and in Luke 7 vs 1 – 9.

Faith, in turn, causes a reassessment. It informs and stirs a belief in us about the greatness of God and His love for us despite our relative weakness compared to Him and our helplessness in the face of our adversities. Perfect love removes fear and instils faith but none of this would happen without Holy Spirit who works to reveal more and more of God the Father to us, as we grow in our Christian faith.

Hebrews 12 vs 2 describes the Lord Jesus Christ as the author and finisher of our faith, who endured the cross for the joy set before Him. The joy before Him was the promise of salvation and victory for a world and the people in it that He loves so incredibly dearly as described in John 3 vs 16. This world and its people are us. By bringing meaning and purpose to our lives through an ever-growing understanding of Him and His motivations which He provides, our audacity to trust Him, to love and serve Him and to love our neighbors as we love ourselves begins to increase.

Faith will not come without some level of understanding of God. According to Romans 10 vs 17, faith comes by hearing a word or words from God spoken by Him. This means that, at a minimum, a line of communication is required, as well as the capacity to understand what is being said.

Be blessed.
